Soil: Since banana is a feeder crop the soil fertility is vital. Rich, fertile, well-drained soil with ample organic matter suits for green Cavendish cultivation. The pH of soil should be 6-8.

Climate: This kind of banana is a stifling crop which requires humid, warm and showery climate. The humidity is expected to be 90% and above, the expected temperature range is 10-400C. It is vulnerable to cold and cannot withstand with the dried condition. Strong dehydrated winds might cause a substantial decrease in the plant’s growth and quality, the yield of fruits.

Propagation: Saleable edible bananas will not produce feasible seeds. With the help of suckers (a lateral shoot) sword suckers (narrow leaves with a rhizome), the banana is propagated. One sound bud from rhizomes or from fruited plants can be used as the proliferating material.

Manuring: Since it is being an intense feeder well responding to manuring. This swift growing plant will be more beneficial when fast-rising fertilizers are used. Application of 100g of N, 300 g of K2O, 30 g of P2O5 and per plant need to be supplied in three doses during the 2nd,3rdand 5th months is recommended in Tamilnadu. Every plant is recommended with 100g N, 100 g K2O, and 40 g P2O5 in Maharashtra. However P2O5 and K2O should be applied during the planting period and N should be given in three divided doses: 3rd, 4th and 5th month after sowing.

The aftercare such as Desuckering (removing unwanted suckers), Propping (supporting the plants with rigid bars), Wrapping (covering bunches to protect from dust, sunburn) will be taken.

Harvesting & Yield: Harvesting is done within 12-15 months after planting short and 15-18 months tall varieties. The signs of banana maturity are indicated as the fruits become plumpy, gives clanging sound when tapping, change the color of the fruit from deep green to light green.
